How I Met My Friend Trish

Trish didn’t have time to write on her blog today, so I decided to write it for her. Trish and I have been friends for 52 years. We met when one of my best friends, Terry, spent the summer with her family on Beaver Lake in Hartland, Wisconsin. Trish lived across the lake in a cottage on her grandfather’s estate. They met and became fast friends. In the fall, Terry introduced her to the rest of our group of friends.

Trish grew up in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin an upscale suburb near Lake Michigan. I on the other hand grew up on the west side of Milwaukee in a duplex with one bathroom in our half. The first time I was in Trish’s house, I was in awe. I had never seen a house like that in my 13 year old life. It had a winding staircase, four bedrooms each with its own bathroom, and a huge kitchen. Trish’s room was large, but the best thing was she had a huge amount of cosmetics. My love of makeup started in her bathroom. She stored nail polish in her shower. But best of all, Trish had a brother.

Trish’s brother was a year older. He had a group of very handsome and rich friends. This started a melding of my girl friends who were very beautiful and her brother’s friends. My first date was with one of these boys; his mother drove us to a party because he was too young to drive.

I always knew Trish would do something unique. She had imagination and a lot of courage. Writing this book was a tremendous accomplishment. She has worked very hard to share her passion for American Idol, her idealistic dream that everyone should have love and be loved like Jenna and Aidan, and her love of music. She is even giving away a free book to the first 100 people who promise to write a comment on her blog (US. only). I hope you will take advantage of this offer because I know you will enjoy the book.

Barbecue, Shanghai Rummy-How I Relax

Sorry fans that I missed two days of blogging. I went to a barbeque on Sunday, needing to get away from my computer. My leg was developing sciatica and was hurting like the devil. So my dear husband and I were off to a day of surf and turf. Well, I did eat shrimp and sat in a lukewarm Jacuzzi since it was 110 degrees in sunny California. Okay, so it was a poor man’s surf and turf, but it was great for my psyche. I tried not to think about writing or marketing my book and just enjoyed the afternoon and evening. Sitting in the spa for hours, talking with friends was heavenly until we finally heard the vociferous call that the lamb chops were done. We hurried into the house for a great dinner and much needed socializing with friends.

One of my friends asked how the book was selling. I said, “Great for an unknown author.”

The conversation suddenly changed to other topics. I’m used to my friends being indifferent. I thought to myself, but wait until I turn into a famous writer, then I will get the respect that I deserve!

When I got home, I tried to get it together. I checked my blog and still no comments. Staring at my computer in disbelief, I thought how could this happen. So I played free poker on line to ease my pain.

The next morning, I worked on my continuing second novel. In the late afternoon, I went to play cards with my little old lady friend from Pasadena. Her name is Rose, she’s 90 and sharp as a tack. She’s unbelievable…no health problems and very serious about her card games…a no nonsense type of gal. I love games and gambling! It runs in my family. My father died in front of a slot machine. He had a massive coronary. Maybe that will be my fate too. We played Shanghai Rummy from 5:30 until 1 a.m. She beat me four out of six games. There are nine different games to one set. So that makes 56 games in all. I went home trampled, but happy. I love her company and spunk. I want to be her when I grow up!

By the way, the California fires were burning all around us. On my way home, the smoke came blasting through the air-conditioning vents and I was afraid they were going to close the freeway or I was going to die of asphyxiation. However, I made it home safely. It’s sad how two firemen lost their lives fighting these horrific fires. I’m grieving for them and their families. We experienced a fire once and believe me, it was scary. Our house took eight months to be rebuilt, and we lost a lot of things…just things. Everybody lived and that was all that mattered.

It’s late, my eyes are closing, and tomorrow I’m listening to a teleseminar about Facebook and other social media sites. Stay tuned for some valuable information on networking and promotion. If you would like to leave a comment… you can.

I Love American Idol

Wow…this blogging thing is very time consuming. I’m a fiction writer, but my dear husband says that I can write anything. I want to share with aspiring writers how this experience has been for me, so I may help them in the future. Writing this novel has been the best thing that has happened to me except for marrying my husband, giving birth to my boys and being there when my beautiful grandchildren were born, When I was writing the book, every time that I finished a chapter I shared it with anyone that would listen. Writers tend to be insecure and need the feedback.

My husband and I are huge fans of American Idol. Season two was my favorite, because that is when I heard the voice of the incredible song stylist, Clay Aiken. He moved me and I was hooked. I was never a fan of any singer, well maybe Elvis but not really anyone else. I followed him like a groupie all over the country. He’s the ultimate entertainer and I learned a lot about his overzealous fans (like me) that followed him, spent our life savings, but we all had the time of our lives! Clay made me feel sixteen again. I had a boyfriend before my husband, who happened to be a rock star. Clay, who’s clearly not Aidan (my hero in my novel), helped me indirectly set the ground work for my love story.

My first real job was with a theatrical agency on Sunset Strip. I was hired because of my astrological sign. I’m a Leo! I couldn’t even type, but I fit in because I was neurotic and creative. Welcome to Hollywood! Stay tuned because I will give you hints and tips all about the joys and pitfalls of writing a novel. Is anybody reading my blog yet? Don’t be bashful- comment!

My Characters Spoke to Me in a Dream

Here I go again! It’s already day two and time to write another blog. Since I didn’t get any comments to my last blog masterpiece, I will try to give you some insight as to why I wrote this book. It started with a dream so vivid that the characters in it woke me up in the middle of the night. I quickly jotted down some notes, so I would remember these characters. Their names came later, but their presence stayed with me while their story unfolded in my imagination. I never would have imagined that I would ever write a novel, but there I was writing my characters love story, and they wouldn’t let me stop until my book was finished. I was so engrossed in their lives that my husband began to wonder where I had gone to, even though I hadn’t left the house. I owe a lot to my husband for not divorcing me and letting me tap into my creative talents. More to come tomorrow so stay tuned. If I don’t get any comments I’ll wonder where everyone else has gone to. Here’s your chance to tap into your creative talents and write me a comment.

Why I Hate to Blog

Blogging seems too time consuming and nonproductive. In my limited experience, no one seems to ever leave a comment and that to a writer is devastating. Why blog if no one reads it?

I’m an unknown author who has just written her first great American novel. Everyone thinks that their novel is the best and is going to be the next big Blockbuster. I actually think that my new romance novel, “When I Remember Love,” could very easily be adapted into film, it’s the new modern day “Love Story.” By the way, I even have a songwriting team…more about that later. My book is about a talented pop-star who tries out for a reality talent show and meets the love of his life before the finale. They marry quickly and begin their journey through the music industry together. You will find out what’s like to live with a major celebrity and have access to a backstage pass into the exciting world of a Superstar. I even dare to write about a married couple that has a HOT sex life.  With a lousy economy, studios closing at a rapid rate and me being an unknown HOT author (that’s the comments that I get from my fans…yes I do have fans), I’m a bit reluctant to blog often. However, I hired a marketing coach and an assistant, and they have ordered me…I mean requested that I blog. So even though I hate it, I will try to make it interesting and maybe, just maybe, you will comment and I will not be so pessimistic.

Stay tuned for part two tomorrow.

When I Remember Love

Are you one of millions of people who sat glued to their television sets each week watching their favorite reality talent contestant perform, cheering them on, voting for them, and – if they survive to break through as potential stars – following their budding careers?

I admit that I got caught up in the excitement one season and became a fan of an idol who inspired me to explore my own talents. So, I have written a novel that came to me in a dream about a fictitious pop star discovered on a fictitious TV talent competition show.

I know mine isn’t the first story told about an undiscovered talent’s humble beginnings and the road that led them into the spotlight on a hit TV talent show and culminated in a life-changing victory. However, where those stories end, mine is just beginning.

When I Remember Love takes readers along on the journey of a newborn star who discovers his soul mate while on the verge of superstardom.

How does one balance a normal family life while swept up in the exciting, frenetic life of a superstar? Can love survive in such a surreal environment? Will it stand the test of time under those circumstances?

Readers of my novel get a glimpse behind the concert stage and, for mature readers, into the bedroom of hot superstar, Aidan Price, and his beautiful wife Jenna, whose passion ignites on the pages of my book. You can learn more about my novel by going to www.trishsilver.com
