Jamal Semaj Linares

March 12, 2019–July 13, 2024

It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Jamal Semaj Linares. Born on March 12, 2019, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jamal graced this world with his radiant joy and departed far too soon on July 13, 2024.

Jamal is survived by his devoted mother, Lindsay Linares; his siblings Antonio Truax, Mia Truax, Javier Truax, Mirage Linares, Harmony Linares, and Milo Linares; his father Contrell Hill; and his grandparents Anthony and Sarah Truax, and Lavonda Hill. He is also cherished by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.

Jamal brought immense happiness to everyone he met. His radiant smile could light up any room, and being around him was always a joy. He adored snuggling with his mom, finding warmth in her lap. At his grandparents' house, he would eagerly climb into "Gamma's" lap, always carrying his beloved blanket. He would patiently wait by the dryer when it was being washed, ready to hold it again as soon as possible.

Jamal had a contagious love for superheroes, with Spider-Man being his ultimate favorite. He delighted in swinging, sliding, and playing at splash pads and parks. Popsicles and Happy Meals were among his favorite treats. His boundless energy and joyful spirit were a precious gift from God, and his family will forever miss him.

On the Sunday before Jamal went home to Heaven, he was in the front row of his children's ministry class, singing and dancing during worship time. His loved ones take comfort in knowing he is now safe at home with Jesus. As Jesus promised in Matthew 5:8, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God."

In the spirit of his favorite superhero, we remember the words of Spider-Man: "With great power comes great responsibility." Jamal's power was his love and joy, and he shared them generously with everyone around him. May we do likewise.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 20th, from 12pm to 2pm, with a Celebration of Life service immediately following at 2pm. Both the visitation and service will take place at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church, 2700 East Rogers Road, Bloomington, Indiana 47401. Allen Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Jamal's joy will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew him, and his memory will be cherished forever.
