How do you change the language on Netflix? Switch your settings in a few easy steps.
You log into Netflix at the end of a long work day. You are all settled on the couch with your snacks and beverage of choice. You select the movie's title but all of a sudden, the audio is not in your preferred language.
Or maybe the display language on your account was changed. You may even want to switch the audio on your favorite anime or change the subtitles on the latest K-drama you are binge-viewing.
If this has ever happened to you, Netflix outlines an easy process to fix your language settings.
How to change language on Netflix
To change the language Netflix is displayed in, the streaming services recommends the following steps on a desktop browser:
- If you are on the log in screen, select "Manage Profiles." If you are on the home screen, go to your icon in the top right, open the option list and then select "Manage Profiles."
- Click your profile icon.
- Go to "Language" and open the list options.
- Select your preferred display language and hit save.
On the mobile app, select "Edit" in the upper right of the screen. Then click your profile icon. Go to "Display Language" and choose your preferred language. Select the arrow in the top left and then "Done."
You may need to relaunch the app to ensure the display language change occurred.

How to change audio and subtitles
If you are on a mobile device, Netflix suggests the following steps to choose language for audio and subtitles:
- If you are on the log-in screen, select "Edit" in the top right of your screen. If you are on the home screen, go to your icon in the top right and then select "Manage Profiles."
- Choose the profile you want to edit.
- Open "Audio & Subtitles."
- Select your preferred language(s) for audio and subtitles.
If you are watching something and want to change the audio or subtitles once it has already started, select "Audio & Subtitles" on the pause screen with the word bubble icon. Then choose the language.
