'It's up to the president to decide': Pelosi comments on Biden uproar

WASHINGTON - Former House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., in a new interview Wednesday appeared to question whether President Joe Biden should be the Democratic nominee.

Pelosi was asked on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” whether Biden has her support to be the nominee. She said, “It’s up to the president to decide if he is going to run. We're all encouraging him to make that decision. Because time is running short.”

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Ca) before President Joe Biden delivers the State of the Union address to Congress at the U.S. Capitol in Washington March 7, 2024.

“He's beloved. He is respected. And people want him to make that decision, not me,” Pelosi added.

Her remarks come as several House Democrats have called on Biden to step out of the race following his disastrous debate performance last month. Biden has insisted he will stay in the race.

“I want him to do whatever he decides to do,” Pelosi said when asked whether she wants him to run. “And that's - that's the way it is. Whatever he decides we go with.”
