July 18, 2024: Sun-powered stratospheric SolarStratos plane flies before landing in Sion airport with the Tourbillon Castle in the background. The stratospheric SolarStratos plane was moved to its new base in Payerne ahead of its 10,000-meter altitude world record attempt, the first time for a manned solar-powered airplane into the stratosphere. This record-breaking flight, a step towards the stratospheric flight, is planned for the summer of 2025.
