Planted Bloomington, an area food truck serving plant-based food, has some new items on its seasonal menu that use local ingredients. The food truck opened in September 2023 and offers flats (open-faced sandwiches), as well as skewers, ice cream and other savory and sweet items.

Chickweed is a new Ethiopian-inspired berebere-spiced flat made with potatoes, carrots, collard greens, cilantro, fennel cream and turmeric-stewed cabbage. Dogwood is a Reuben-inspired sandwich with marinated jackfruit, in-house crafted swiss "cheeze," sauerkraut, Russian dressing and fresh dill. Violet is a banh mi-inspired sandwich with fried tofu in a lemongrass sauce served with pickled daikon and carrots, mint, cilantro, jalapeno and spicy mayo.

Some favorites remain on the menu, including toasties, which are toasted bread topped with in-house made "cheeze" and more. The Redbud also has kimchi; the Honeysuckle has in-house jam. Planted's veggie skewer, Joe Pye Weed, is still available as are kombucha on tap and kombucha floats (made with homemade ice cream).

In addition to the food truck, Planted Bloomington provides catering. For more, check out the website www.plantedbloomington.com.
