Editor's note: The phone number for Johnny's Grub to Go has been updated.
Tickets are now available for the 10th annual Bloomington Craft Beer Festival, which will be April 13 at One World at Woolery Mill, 2250 W. Sunstone Drive. Up to 30 breweries, cideries and distilleries, including many from Bloomington, will participate at the historic mill. All participants, 21 and older, receive a 3-ounce taster glass they may use to sample the beers, ciders and spirits.
Early entry begins at 2 p.m. with ticketholders receiving a limited edition beer fest glass they can pick up as they leave. General admission ticketholders can enter beginning at 3 p.m. Designated drivers can enter at any time and drink water or coffee. Their tickets cost $15 each and give them access to the non-alcoholic samples as well.
Musicians will perform during the festival, with Ciara Dawn Haskett performing the opening act and the Stampede String Band as the headliner.
In addition to sampling drinks, participants can enjoy food from area food trucks and vendors, play some games and shop at vendor booths selling artwork, T-shirts and more. Funds raised at the beer fest will benefit Lotusfest. Parking on site costs $5, which will be donated to Community Kitchen of Monroe County.
The craft beer festival happens, rain or shine, with much of the activities under the roof of the huge Woolery building. Check out drinkin.beer/events/bloomington/ for more information and to purchase tickets.
Lobster, BBQ food trucks coming to Heartwork Brewing
Heartwork Brewing, at 1703 N. College Ave., often has food trucks in its parking lot on weekends and game days to serve food for the customers who come in to enjoy a brew or cider. Most of the food trucks are from the Bloomington area but sometimes it's a food truck from a little farther away. From 5 to 8 p.m. March 16, it will be J's Lobster Truck serving up New England-style lobster rolls and more. The food truck is based in Indianapolis and J's Lobster Truck and Fish Market is one of the restaurants inside the Garage Food Hall at 906 Carrollton Ave. in Indianapolis. Besides lobster, J's also serves shrimp, fish and crab in its fare.
This weekend, Porkopolis BBQ is scheduled to be at Heartwork Brewing. This truck will serve wings, burnt ends, rib tips, brisket, pulled pork, pulled chicken, walking tacos and mac and cheese. Porkopolis will be at the brewery Saturday from 1-7 p.m.
