BLOOMINGTON — The Indiana basketball team announced its full non-conference schedule Tuesday morning.

The Hoosiers open the year with a midweek matchup against SIU-Edwardsville on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Assembly Hall. An exhibition game has not been announced, but the program will likely host at least one tuneup before the season opener.

Outside the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, Indiana’s schedule only includes one high major opponent, South Carolina, and it won't play any other road or neutral site games ahead outside the Big Ten. The Gamecocks reached the NCAA tournament team last year as a No. 6 seed with a 26-8 record (13-5 SEC).

The teams play Nov. 16 at Assembly Hall.

The Battle 4 Atlantis field includes Arizona, Davidson, Gonzaga, Louisville, Oklahoma, Providence and West Virginia. The Bahamas-based tournament is a 12-game, three-day event that’s scheduled over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Indiana’s game against Winthrop on Dec. 28 at Assembly Hall is the first-ever matchup between the programs. The Eagles are a storied mid-major program with 11 NCAA Tournament appearances, the most recent in 2021.

The team is coached by Mark Prosser, the son of former Xavier coach Skip Prosser.

Indiana’s conference opponents were announced in May, but they are still waiting for the time and dates of those games.

While the Big Ten expanded to 18 teams, the conference kept a 20-game schedule with teams facing three schools both home and away and 14 teams once, seven at home and seven on the road.

The Hoosiers will play Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Rutgers, UCLA and USC at Assembly Hall. They will play Iowa, Michigan State, Nebraska, Northwestern, Oregon, Washington and Wisconsin on the road.

Indiana’s home and away matchups are against Ohio State, Penn State and Purdue.
